Welcome to our frequently asked questions for candidates page where we try to assist you by providing answers to some of the more common questions you might have.
Though we prefer to speak directly with people who have questions regarding our services we appreciate that for some questions a quick answer can be best.
What do I need to register for work?
- Complete application form
- NI proof (this cannot be a wage slip)
- Right to work including relevant documentation
- Proof of address eg utility bill in current address within 2 months
- Bank account details
- Reference names, address and number (2 required)
- Driving license if a driving role plus CPC & digi tacho if 7.5t and above
I have emailed my CV in, how long until I get a response?
We will do our upmost to match you to a suitable vacancy and will be in touch as soon as possible. Unfortunately due to the amount of CVs we receive we may not be able to respond to everybody.
When will I get paid and receive my wage slip?
Your first wage would be the following Friday after your first week worked (a week in arrears). Wage slips will be sent via email by 5pm on the Wednesday before you are due to receive your money. The advantage of this which is unique to Staff UK gives you the comfort that any queries will be dealt with by Friday.
What do I do if I have a pay query?
You can either reply to your wage slip email for payroll to look in to or ring the office and speak to the consultant you usually speak with.
What if I have not received my wage slip?
Please ring the office on 01204 399700 if you have not received your wage slip by 4pm on the Wednesday you are expecting it and confirm your email address. Please do not contact us before 4pm on the Wednesday or on our out of hours as they will be unable to assist you.
How do I report a sickness or absence?
We ask to be given as much notice as possible but a minimum of 2 hours’ notice for any absence in order for us to cover your shift. Please ring the out of hours number you were provided with on registration or the office if during office hours.
How do I book holidays?
All holidays must be requested in writing by emailing the office. Please telephone your contact at the agency and then put the request in email, 2 weeks notice is needed for all holiday requests.
Our holiday period runs January to December.
You can only have bank holidays paid if you have accrued enough to cover it and these must be booked like any other day, they will not be automatically processed as a lot of our clients do work bank holidays.
What to do if I don’t like my current work placement?
Give the office a call and speak with one of our consultants, our team and friendly and welcoming and would be happy to discuss and issues and if necessary, attempt to match you with a different placement.
